I cannot speak on the Giant, but I also having a 2015 Specialized Allez Elite. I couldn't be happier. I have ridden well over 1000 miles on it since March, and I have no complaints whatsoever. I use it for the same purpose as you, and I also transitioned to it from a hybrid. On some very steep climbs I have had a little difficulty, but I suppose that is true for any road bike and more a problem with my conditioning. Nonetheless, I love my Allez.
