HomeBicycle Friendly Driver

Help make Greater Memphis urban, rural and mountain roads safer and more courteous.

Become a certified Bicycle-Friendly Driver!

Our Bicycle-Friendly Driver program is designed to teach all drivers the best ways to share the road with people on bicycles. The 1.5-hour, interactive class covers the following topics:

  • Common causes of crashes between motorists and bicyclists and how to avoid them

  • Legal and illegal behavior for motorists and bicyclists

  • How to navigate on-street bicycle infrastructure like shared lanes, bike lanes and green paint

  • Why sharing the road is often the safest option for both motorists and bicyclists

  • Upon successful completion of the class, participants will receive a Bicycle-Friendly Driver certificate and sticker to display on their vehicle.
