Memphis Hightailers Launch "Road Trip Crew" to Conquer Regional Rides

MEMPHIS, TN — The Memphis Hightailers Bicycle Club is officially taking its community on the road with the launch of the Road Trip Crew, a new initiative designed to turn out-of-town cycling events into full-scale club experiences.

The club is currently seeking enthusiastic members to step up as leaders and "Trip Captains" to help steer this new program.

Ride Together. Travel Together. Party Together.

The Road Trip Crew’s mission is simple: eliminate the "logistics headache" of traveling for rides. Whether it's the fast and flat Delta roads of Bikes, Blues & Bayous in Greenwood, Mississippi, or the massive climbs and river views of the Big Dam Bridge 100 in Little Rock, Arkansas, the Crew ensures that no member has to navigate a destination ride alone.

"We want to turn 'I might go' into 'we're ALL going,'" says the club. "It’s about bringing that Memphis energy to every start line and, more importantly, every finish line."

Beyond the Bike: The "Tailgate Culture"

What sets the Road Trip Crew apart is the focus on the post-ride experience. The initiative emphasizes a "Tailgate Culture" featuring club tents, grills, music, and the signature Hightailers vibe. By coordinating carpools, group lodging, and dedicated meet-up points, the Crew aims to build a stronger community that extends far beyond the Memphis city limits.

Join the Leadership Team

To make these trips a reality, the Hightailers are looking for volunteers to fill four "light-lift" roles for upcoming regional events:

  • Trip Captain: The point person who keeps the event coordination moving.
  • Logistics Helper: The master of carpools and bike transport plans.
  • Tailgate Lead: The hero in charge of the grill, the cooler, and the club banner.
  • Vibe Curator: The person responsible for the playlist and keeping the energy high.

Featured Upcoming Trips

  • Bikes, Blues & Bayous (Greenwood, MS): Experience "the BEST Southern Hospitality on Earth" on the alluvial plains of the Mississippi Delta.
  • Big Dam Bridge 100 (Little Rock, AR): Tackle Arkansas's premier cycling event and cross the iconic 4,226-foot bridge over the Arkansas River.
  • Tour de Corn (East Prairie, MO): A smooth, fast ride through the Missouri Bootheel where "every mile is butter than the last".

How to Get Involved

The process is designed to be seamless. Once a Trip Captain is assigned, the club sends out interest polls, creates a dedicated group chat, and establishes a clear travel and meet-up plan for the team.
