MEMPHIS, TN — Every great ride starts with a single turn of the pedal. But as most seasoned cyclists know, the hardest part isn’t the grueling hill or the summer humidity—it’s simply deciding to show up.
This year, the Bluff City Training Team is making that decision easier than ever.
Official registration is now open for the 2026 season, marking the program's 15th anniversary. Since its inception, the team has helped over 600 riders conquer long-distance goals. Whether you are eyeing your first 25-mile milestone or preparing for a full 100-mile century, the 2026 team offers a community-driven path to get you there.
The Journey Begins April 11th
The season kicks off Saturday, April 11, at 9:30 AM, departing from the Campbell Clinic in Germantown. This initial ride serves as a "dial-in" session, helping riders find their fit within the various pace groups.
What’s New for 2026?
The program has evolved to fit the modern cyclist’s busy schedule. Key updates for the 15th-anniversary season include:
- Flexible Routing: All rides feature a central SAG (Support and Gear) stop, allowing riders to complete the full scheduled distance or head back early without disrupting the group.
- A "Pay-Per-Ride" Option: For those who can’t commit to the full season, a new $10-per-ride option allows for casual participation.
- Dual-Goal Training: C and D groups will ride together, with structured paths for both Metric Century and Full Century distances.
- Streamlined Calendar: The schedule intentionally skips major area events and club rides, keeping your summer manageable.
Structured Progression for Every Goal
Great training doesn't happen by accident. The 2026 season features 19 scheduled rides between April and October. The program uses a structured progression that builds confidence alongside fitness.
Crucially, the curriculum is designed for two distinct tracks: those aiming for the Metric Century (62 miles) and those pushing for the Full Century (100 miles). Starting with 20-mile foundation rides in April, the mileage scales up incrementally. To beat the Mid-South heat, start times shift from 9:30 AM in the spring to 6:30 AM by peak summer, with locations moving from Germantown to the shaded canopy of Meeman-Shelby Forest.
More Than Just Miles
Membership includes full SAG support, but the benefits extend beyond the road. The season includes seminars on bike maintenance, hydration, nutrition, and recovery. Furthermore, Training Team registration includes entry to the signature Bluff City Blues Ride.
